Impact Assessment Case Studies From Southern Africa launched on the SAIEA website
Twenty case studies are presented here as examples of best practices in Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment.  The examples are drawn from six southern African countries and cover a range of projects including mining and exploration, power generation and transmission, water developments, industrial and rural development programmes, marine telecomms and wildlife conservation.  They show the diversity of approaches to environmental assessment and bring out the important lessons that can be learned.  The material is presented as downloadable handouts and powerpoint slides which can be used in training courses and in promotion of EA as a sound basis for wise planning.
This e-book was funded by the World Bank DGF through the Partnership for Environmental Assessment in Africa (PEAA) project in the Capacity Development and Linkages in Environmental Assessment programme.  The objective of PEAA is to harmonise, scale-up and raise the visibility of support for EA and environmental management capacity building in Africa.
