Power, Poverty and Sustainability

IAIA 2006 will be held in Stavanger, Norway from May 23-26. CBBIA Progress

A stakeholders workshop was held in Johannesburg – the workshop was attended by  13 people from various SADC countries.

 

The draft situation assessment report is almost completed. 24 case studies are being written up. More are being sought so that there is a reasonable spread amongst SADC countries. It is anticipated that the situation assessment will be available as from January 2006. Click on the image to the right to read more about the CBBIA project.

 

Project of the Year 2005 Award

SAIEA's Calabash Project has received international recognition by receiving the "Project of the Year" award from the International Association for Public Participation (iap2). We wish to thank the World Bank TFESSD and CIDA for their continued support and extend our congratulations to all those who participated in the Calabash Project for this achievement. Scientist of the Year 2005

The executive director of SAIEA received the Scientist of the Year 2005 award from the Government of Namibia. The award was presented to Peter Tarr by Prime Minister Nahas Angula.

Transboundary - Environmental Assessment Studies

SAIEA recently signed a contract with the Environmental Law Institute to look at ways of improving methodologies for transboundary impact assessment in the context of shared waters. For this project we are studying the methodologies used for transboundary impact assessments in shared rivers in the region. The report will be available in early 2006.
